The original N64 predecessor to Nintendo's now-famous Smash Bros. series. While the Gamecube and Wii titles show much improvement upon the original, there is still much fun to be had with this game.
There's a multitude of characters available from the start, and a few others that can be unlocked by playing (or cheating :P).
Awesome. The game lacks any sort of story and has a small selection of characters, but the graphics are cool for their time, gameplay is the bomb, and also, it was a first attempt! Give points to Nintendo and HAL Laboratory for trying! However, lack of good character selection (something fixed in Melee and Brawl) and no story are bad. Also, the game is too darn short! After completing 1P Game with all characters, playing 50 VS. Matches on all of the stages, and completing Target Test and Board the Platforms with all the characters, you're DONE! Except for tournaments and more VS. Matches and crap like that. However, would you want to play hundreds of VS. Matches on this game? I wouldn't. All you can do after unlocking everything that doesn't get repetitive and boring is Sound Test, where you can play with the sounds and music and make a couple Youtube videos out of it. However, that gets boring too. 4/5, because of the repetitiveness. Anything but repetitiveness is good.

Brazil Rules rates this game: 5/5This is a really precious game,who don't ever wanted to put link fightin jiglypuff? Well maybe not much ever tought about it, but aside the ability to choose between various nintendo characters to fight it's great to play with ANY friend, i think you can say that you could even play with your mom since the controls are simple and easy to catch up. A must for playing parties.

The reason I was so excited to try this game, and I still think this was it's neatest feature, was the fact that it was combining several series of games in one. Out of all the characters you have to choose from, there a little someone from almost everything. You've got Mario, Link, Pokemon, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Kirby, and several others as well. It was super exciting to see them all in one game, but the game play itself gets old. You can only punch someone so many times.
The game basically is a constant fighting game. You can have up to four players and the object is to... Well, be the last one standing. I'd say about the first 15-20 times you play it is cool, but after that it starts to wear on you. I've also never been into fighting games that much, so it may just be that this game wasn't in the right genre for me.
All in all, the game looked cool on the surface, but just didn't end up being 'all that'.

Super Smash Bros Melee is an 2D Fighting Game released for the GameCube in 2001, and the best selling for its console. The game has 14 starter characters and a total of 25 characters(26 with Sheik)
